2013 update on the worldwide standardization of the hemoglobin A₁c measurement.

چکیده
Hemoglobin A1c (HbA1c) reflects a time averaged blood glucose during the previous 2–3 months, and is used as the gold standard for long-term follow-up of glycemic control. The same HbA1c method was used both in the DCCT study published in 1993 (1) and the UKPDS study published in 1998 (2). Following the development of a true reference method by IFCC (3), it was stated in an international consensus that this reference method should be used by all manufacturers for the calibration methods used in the clinical laboratory (4). A second consensus meeting was held in 2009, where the main issue was how the results should be presented to clinicians and patients, and how they should be reported in scientific journals (5). In short, three conclusions were reached at this meeting:

بررسی ارتباط بین سطح سرمی C-REACTIVE PROTEIN و هموگلوبین گلیکوزیله در بیماران مبتلا به دیابت نوع 2
Background: Type 2 diabetes mellitus is a common metabolic disorder witht increasing prevalence is increasing worldwide. C-Reactive Protein (CRP) is a marker of systemic inflammation and an independent risk factor for cardiovascular disease (CVD). The aim of this study was to elucidate the correlation between glycemic control and systemic inflammation by measuring serum CRP levels. Methods: In t...
متن کاملClinical applications of glycosylated haemoglobin
Glycosylated haemoglobin (HbA1c) has been in use since 1980s as the 'gold standard' for monitoring glycaemic control and as a predictor of diabetic complications. Even though several conditions, such as, haemolytic anaemia (lowers HbA1c) and aplastic anaemia (raises HbA1c) tend to confound and interfere with HbA1c measurement, in most circumstances HbA1c is a valid and reliable index of glycaem...
متن کامل2010 Consensus Statement on the Worldwide Standardization of the Hemoglobin A1C Measurement
G lycated hemoglobin concentrations (most commonly hemoglobin A1C; HbA1c) reflect time-averaged blood glucose during the previous 2–3 months and are used as the gold standard for longterm follow-up of glycemic control. Standardization with common calibration was first proposed in 1984 (1). It was only after the publication of the Diabetes Control and Complications Trial (DCCT) study in 1993 (2)...

Rotaviruses are the most common cause of severe diarrhea in children under 5 years of age worldwide with a higher prevalence in developing countries. In accordance with the World Health Organization (WHO) recommendations for the global use of rotavirus vaccines, it is important to review trends of rotavirus epidemiology, distribution and diversity of rotavirus strains in the pre-vaccine period....
